MIOK MENTORING

Supporting Carers, Building Resilience, Making It OK

MIOK MENTORING is a retired professional sharing their accumulated wisdom, ethics and practical experience with someone who is willing and able to be empowered, to consider perspective and options, in their caring journey. Unsurprisingly, not everyone is ready, nor wants mentoring, particularly when they believe most of the physical and emotional stress comes from their loved one.

Through MENTORING many carers discover the difference between being a ‘care giver’ and a ‘caretaker.’ You can Google the difference! Essentially, the difference revolves around carer mindset, priorities, and the relational vibe.

MIOK MENTORING is for robust, enthusiastic carers who are mentally well, not for debilitated carers. It assists the carer to embrace mindset and adopt skills on broad relational issues (caregiving), so that they don’t burn out trying to manage complex medications, fighting bureaucracy, keeping the house sanitized, and making sure falls are avoided etc (caretaking). MIOK MENTORING makes paper Profiling Checklists and Surveys available to Carers, which provides the carer with talking points to discuss with Dr Les, if they so desire. So surveys would include: My Caregiving, Our Connection Ways (filling each other’s love-tank), Our Reconnection Ways (Apologizing), Our Temperaments (How we process communication), Coping Ways (How we respond to stressful situations) etc.
